Sunita Bhuyan
About
Sunita Bhuyan is an Indo-fusion violinist and vocalist trained in the Hindustani style from her mother Minoti Khaund and maestro late Pandit V. G. Jog, specializing in Indo-jazz fusion and world folk styles.
She is the first violinist in India to play Assamese folk on the violin and fuse it with Scottish, Irish and World folk music. Her album Bihu Strings by Times Music is the only album of folk music played on the violin in India.
Apart from her musical journey, she has been a forerunner in the Human Resources industry, spearheading a unique HR training module on well-being, leadership, and transformation through the medium of music, directed at everyone in the corporate realm, from CEOs to management students.
Her music therapy workshops have helped over 20,000 underprivileged children across India.
She has been engaged as the chief mentor at Atos Prayas Foundation which runs high-impact programs for the education and enrichment of less privileged youth.
Sunita has been a consulting faculty for KPMG Learning Academy, CEDEP Executive Education (France), SHRM, TISS, BNP Paribas, CII, Commonwealth HR, and IIM.
Some of her popular programs are Sahakriya, The Music Clinique, With Strings Attached, and 3E on women’s empowerment.
She has presented her talks and workshops in international forums like TED talks, SHRM, Asia Scotland society Edinburgh, Commonwealth HRICT, Gartner Leadership Forum New York, Marcus Evans KL, Indian Consulate Dubai, ICIA Glasgow, Nehru Centre London, Tata Institute of Social sciences, and, Cancer Patients association among others.

- Sunita received the ‘Priyadarshini Award for excellence’ from the National Unity Foundation, Delhi.
- She was conferred with an award from Pope Francis at the Vatican City for her work on music therapy with underprivileged children, cancer patients, and people with disability.
- Sunita received the ‘Learning Innovation Award’ by the World HRD Congress in 2011.
- She also received the ‘Women’s Achievers Award’ by Giants International and Young Environmentalist Trust in 2013.
- Sunita was conferred with the ‘REX Karmaveer Global Award’ in 2015.
- She was named the ‘Woman of the Decade’ by the Women’s Economic Forum in 2017.
- Sunita also received the ‘She Inspires Global Culture Champion Award’ in 2022.
